SUNWEST TECHNOLOGIES, INC. was founded in 1990,
and is a closely-held California corporation.
Richard Hess (President and CEO) was an
engineer, engineering manager, and director of marketing at AMETEK, Straza
with a highly successful track record in acoustic product development, both
military and commercial. His engineering projects included
development of the early CTFM sonars, many of which are still in use today
throughout the world. He delivered the first ROV for use in emergency intervention (mandated by the Norwegian government).
SUNWEST's founder, Jim
Christensen (Vice President and Chief Engineer) was a senior design engineer
and program manager at AMETEK, Straza, and brought extensive Doppler and
CTFM sonar experience to SUNWEST.
The senior staff at SUNWEST has
unparalleled experience in the design, development and marketing of CTFM
sonar and other electro-acoustic equipment.

The SUNWEST facility is located in El
Cajon, just east of beautiful San Diego. It is just 30 minutes
from the ocean where all underwater acoustic products are tested
on the company's boat, the "SUNWEST". All systems must meet
SUNWEST's stringent test requirements.
The "SUNWEST" is equipped
with GPS, both Trimble and Motorola, radar, fathometers, a flux gate compass,
and other communications systems.
The test boat, located in San Diego
Bay, is used for a variety of SUNWEST programs.
