NAVY CONTINUES TO SUPPORT CTFM….

EL CAJON, CALIFORNIA, USA.

SUNWEST TECHNOLOGIES, INC. reports that Oceaneering Technologies has just received their second SUPER SEARCH SS300 SONAR for use on another of the U.S. Navy SUPER SCORPIOs, maintained and operated at the USN Deep Submergence Unit, NAS, San Diego.

The first SS300 system for DSU, San Diego, was recently installed on a SUPER SCORPIO ROV (often referred to as TUWVS) which is taking part in NATO  exercises off the coast of Denmark.

SUNWEST’s SS300 CTFM sonar received excellent reviews when recently evaluated onboard the British LR5 manned rescue submersible at Fort William Sound in Scotland.   The SUNWEST engineers report that the LR5 crew, who demonstrated a high degree of skill with the sonar, indicated that CTFM is a requirement for the LR5 due to the ability to identify targets by the audio tones characteristic of CTFM.   The SS300 was evaluated as a replacement for the aging 250 CTFMs that have been in service on manned subs and ROVs for more than 20 years.
